‘Give me the gift of a listening heart’ (King Solomon)
I believe that effectiveness and successful outcomes are determined by the lived experience of the person who uses this service.
For this reason I have provided some testimonies of their unique experience.
‘The referral process worked very well through Art Brokerage. Lisa phoned to discuss the family before making contact directly which was excellent. She worked closely with the child and parent within the home and the support was personal to their needs and circumstances. I was informed of the outcomes and where further support will be necessary. It was well timed, planned and followed through. The whole intervention was excellent because Lisa engaged with the parent ensuring that both school and home were closely linked to support the child. Most importantly Lisa listened and took on board everything from school and the family.’
‘I referred this family through ART brokerage and Lisa immediately started working with me to engage and support the family. The time-scale was very effective and Lisa delivered a focussed package of support to the mother and children. A structure was provided for the family and goals were set in order for Mum to move forward and take back some control with regard to current challenges. The family were supported really well, Lisa was incredibly flexible, and her communication and partnership work were very effective.’
‘Lisa and I worked together for several years, she was the Educational Social Worker and I was the Family Support Worker, I learned so much from working with her. Lisa knew the best way forward when I called her about a family that I was concerned about. Two siblings hadn’t presented at school and on the third day of absence Lisa and I went to the house. It transpired that the parent had postnatal depression. Lisa took her time with the parent, listening and gaining a full understanding of the situation. By the end of that visit the parent and children had eaten, were dressed and ready for school, the parent was also supported to book a GP appointment for that day. Lisa arranged to meet the parent the next day and a Family CAF was completed with Lisa ensuring that future support was coordinated by a team around the family. Lisa developed a strategy to address the children’s attendance, whilst at the same time ensuring that the provision of holistic support to all of the family was regularly reviewed. Her flexible approach to working meant that each family had an individualised and personalised action plan of support to meet their needs.’
‘I cannot recommend Lisa highly enough for her professional service. I was in a difficult place when I split with my partner, life was unpredictable and I was at my lowest ebb. Lisa listened and I felt supported from our first meeting. She put together a clear written plan to address the issues I had with my ex -partner and facilitated meetings between us. They were emotionally draining but I felt supported with Lisa by my side. Lisa then put together a programme to help me with my children who were emotional and confused with their parents splitting up. My daughter, who was 10 at the time, was angry and withdrawn and the service provided was compassionate and sensitive to her needs. In addition, I was given help and guidance in how to support my daughter with her emotional needs. Nothing was forced, it was very much at her pace and she benefited greatly from these meetings. I know that this early intervention really helped my family and I cannot recommend Lisa highly enough. Now four years later, we are settled and the children are happy. Having someone believe in me when my world was crumbling was an absolute life- saver for me and I will always be grateful.‘
